Tik Tok-Esque vertical video is here
Videos will now expand to full-screen. Much like the other social platforms users are also prompted to 'swipe up for more.' This feed will be sorted by Twitter's algorithm and is an opportunity for the app to serve up its best-performing content. The platform is also adding videos to its trending section. These added features prove Twitter seems to be jumping on the AI-generated content bandwagon.
Mixed media tweets 🚨TREND ALERT🚨
Users can now mix videos, gifs, and photos in the same tweet. The limit is still four videos/gifs/photos per tweet but this new feature is stepping up the meme game. This introduces another layer to viral content and people are resurrecting old trends.
You may soon be able to edit tweets
The initial rollout of the function has been made available to a select few. It looks to be a feature only available to those with a Twitter Blue subscription and works much like text messaging editing in Apple's new IOS update. Users can edit tweets 5 times for up to 30 mins after they're posted and the public can not only see it's been edited, but they can also see the version history.
You can now post photo carousels and longer captions
Like Instagram, you can now post image carousels to the platform, and users can scroll or wait for tiles to cycle while music plays. A few trends have emerged from this new feature but its success has yet to be determined. TikTok also increased its caption limit to 2,200 characters, which will allow for better visibility in search. The platform has already been a popular search tool and this move looks to help out with that.
Is 'TikTok Now' the new BeReal dupe?
TikTok's new feature seems to be a direct response to BeReal's rise in popularity. The two are eerily similar, both alert you to post within a given time limit (BeReal 2mins, TikTok 3 mins) and they snap photos of your front and back cameras at the same time. It seems the need for a more authentic social media presence may be growing.
Mcdonald's is getting nostalgic with their new promotion running in October. Partnering with the streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market the restaurant chain is offering adults happy meals which feature a meal and either Grimace, the Hamburglar, Birdie, or a newcomer Cactus Buddy as the toy. NBD but we need Grimace to live.
